Owner Jabari Powell is opening MadJacks BBQ in the spring of 2010, with a vision of creating the Berkshires ultimate barbecue experience. Using the fine art of low and slow smoking, Jabari has spent countless hours creating some of the best barbecue you'll ever taste. Jabari brings his love and passion to every dish he creates. 

Jabari started his career as a kitchen dishwasher in his fathers restaurant the Wendell House Bistro in 1988. His Father, Dennis Powell has not only been a teacher but a major inspiration to Jabari. His extensive knowledge of the restaurant industry and amazing culinary skills will no doubt ensure long lasting success for MadJacks.

In 1995, Jabari moved from his hometown of Pittsfield MA to Boston to attend Northeastern University, and lived in Boston for the next 13 years. He never let go of his dream to own a restaurant. In 2000 he received a duel degree in marketing and entrepreneurship. In 2004 He married his high school sweetheart and started a family. After 13 years in Boston working in the food industry as a chef, caterer, manager and wait staff, he and his wife moved back to the beautiful Berkshires with their two children Madison and Jackson ( who he named Madjacks after).  Jabari was inspired to bring his sharp business mind and unbelievable cooking skills to downtown Pittsfield taking full advantage of the economic revitalization that is exploding in the downtown area. 

While spending countless hours perfecting the perfect BBQ sauce, he's vowed to only use the finest ingredients, and prepare each dish with an infusion of patience, passion and love.

We hope that patrons and critics alike will love the food, fun and amazing BBQ that MadJacks will bring to the Berkshires.
